In the highlight of the strategies of “great Exploitation of West China” and Rejuvenating China with Science and Education”, in the year of 2001,Sichuan Conservatory of Music, with the view of developing itself into Sichuan Art University, founded a branch-- Mianyang Arts College in the city of Mianyang, Chinese Science city and the second largest city in Sichuan. This is a great meaningful measure to promote art education and art taste in this science city.
   Facing Three-River Lake, Mianyang Arts College covers an area of over 30 hectares, with Mianyang South Lake Scenic Area and Mianyang Airport as its neighbors. With beautiful surroundings and advanced facilities, the college is compared to an ecological garden. Since 2001, the college has admitted students from all over the country. Currently the number of students has exceeded 1000.
   Music Department and Fine Arts Department are two main departments in this college. There are 14 majors including Dance & Opera Performance, Music Market Management, Cartoon Making, Costume Engineering, Front Page Design & Web Design and so on. With excellent teaching staff and modern teaching pattern, the college is trying to combine the modern technologies with art education so as to cultivate more superior applied art talents and more all-round professionals for the motherland in the twenty-first century.
